Health Tip: Symptoms of Contact Dermatitis

(HealthDay News) -- Contact dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin caused by contact with an irritating substance. It can be caused by contact with certain poisonous plants, medications and some chemicals, among many other sources.

Here are some common signs of contact dermatitis, courtesy of the U.S. National Library of Medicine:

  • Itchy, red or inflamed skin.
  • Soreness or swelling of the skin.
  • Warmness of the skin.
  • Skin rash or lesions that may ooze, drain, crust or become thicker.
