Apple Cranberry Crisp

Autumn is the best time of year to make this dish so that you can take advantage of the abundance of fresh cranberries. In the summer, I like to replace the cranberries with an assortment of blackberries, raspberries and blueberries. This is so good with a high quality french vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Filling
5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced thin
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp light brown sugar (packed)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Topping
1 1/4 cup flour
1 cup rolled instant oats
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
3/4 cup unsalted butter, soft

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9x13 baking dish. Peel and core the apples, then cut them into 1/4 inch slices.
